what kind of food do you serve?
Some people call us an American Gastropub. We serve nourishing, made from scratch american classic comforts inspired in the cuisine of a few generations ago. Things like beef stew, clam chowder, hush puppies, pork belly hash, Johnny cakes, drop biscuits, cheese grits and banana pancakes, along with some great salads and bar snacks.
do you serve vegetarian or vegan food?
We do have some great vegetarian and vegan options in our menu. We also love to work with you on the spot, creating a dish that satisfies your eating style or allergies. You pay our bills, we want to make you happy, so we will cook for you!
do you have gluten free options?
Almost half of our menu is GF!
are you a restaurant or a bar?
We are not sure. Only time will tell. We have put the same care and energy into our cocktail and bar selections as we have in our kitchen. Our food menu is extensive, with six categories, but so is our bar's. We would like people to visit us for the food as much as for our cocktails.
do you take reservations?
We are a small, intimate restaurant with just a few tables. As of now, we are not taking any reservations, only walk ins. We are still deciding whether to accept reservations in the future.
what about large groups?
We can accomodate 10 to 12 (kind'a squeezed) guests in our communal table and about 14 in our table section. Our Bar sits about 16 in a pretty cool U-shaped where everyone is pretty close to one another.
do you have any more locations? are you a franchise?
No. The Ginger Mule is one of a kind.
who owns The Ginger Mule?
Robert and Victor own the Ginger Mule. They are truly a yin and yang team. Robert (who is also an Architect) is the creative person in charge of designing, building and fabricating stuff, concept and menu development and the look and feel of things. Victor is the smart, mature and orderly operations mastermind who keeps everything from falling apart.
who runs The Ginger Mule?
Randy, Brian and Shelby. All three of them have been working with our group for many years and they also run Guru B&C.
who is your chef?
We practice collaborative cuisine, which basically means we all pitch in until each dish is fine tuned to our liking. Usually, Robert develops the menu over a period of a few months and Chef Tomas executes it after everyone has had their say. Dishes are never done, they are always in a state of improvement and constant critique by all of us.
are you the same people as Japaneiro's?
Yes. Victor and Robert also created and own Japaneiro's, Guru and Jupiter. Jason "Quino" Molinos deserves special credit for being the other person who holds everything together, along with the rest of our crazy good people like JP, Randy, Brian, big Memo, little Memo, Jose, Shelby, Pourya, The Frenchies, Chef Victor, Rocky, Alexia, Sinue, David, Chano, Alex, Rene and many many others.
